Engineer Style

This look is probably not blog worthy but this is what I look like one or two times a week when I actually have to dress like the engineer that I am or when I'm just not in fashion mode. The first day at my current position, I wore a skirt and my boss told me that I shouldn't come to work in a skirt from that day forward. That's understandable because it's dirty work sometimes. After I got tired of wearing just pants and wanting to dress better, I went back to wearing skirts and even more daring, dresses and all sorts that are not really fit for an engineering environment but hey, I make it work. So this is what I wore to work....will spice things up again soon.

Cardigan - Land's End (similar)
Pants - Gap (different color)
Flats - Old Navy
Tank Top - Avon(mark)

  3. I love when you show outfits like this. Perfect for those of us that can't wear skirts or dresses to work (is this just an engineer thing? If so, when I mentor students do I need to mention this?...random). I think this would be GREAT for something I can wear to my office/ plant. Keep up the great outfits!

    1. Thank you. I will try to post of this often then. In fact, everytime someone does a post on what to wear to work, it's always outfits that do not work for those of us who work dirty jobs... I think your students can figure out by themselves what they can and cannot wear.

  6. What type of engineer are you?
I used to work in an office adjacent to a plant/warehouse (in supply chain) and then my workload expanded to include going to the back to speak to certain engineers (yeah, I emailed too but noticed it was easier for them to ignore me that way :p) and I even had to leave a pair of shoes in my desk. No open toe shoes allowed in the back for security purposes. Also, the plant/factory work was regulated by FDA so I had to wear a hairnet + hat, security glasses and earplugs where the machines were running. I hate that I never took a selfie :P It was quite a look. Needless to say, no skirts/dresses (sometimes I had to go up stairs to check inventory).
Nice thing about it, all that walking around (and chasing engineers) made me lose weight LOL

    1. Chemical Engineer background and I work as a project engineer in a testing lab. Same story with yours except I'm not in the lab all the time and I usually change my shoes once I get to work.

  8. Pants are fun too - you could always dress them up with some fun shoes and leave a pair of flats at your desk when you need to trek out quite a bit. Those pants look great on you!
