Snow Snow and More Snow

This is our fifth day stuck at home (not consecutive) due to all the snow we're getting...And it will be the sixth day tomorrow. 

Anyway, that's no excuse for not taking outfit pictures right? Although, I've not been blogging much lately, I felt I needed to take my outfit pictures snow or not.

Mint Fit and Flare

Happy New Year everyone. I hope you had a great holiday. Mine was fine and laid back. I honestly don't like the stress of the holidays so I just do what I can. I don't even decorate or do trees.

You can never go wrong with a fit and flare dress because it suits and flatters all body types. This one helped balance out my inverted triangle shape. I wore the cardigan to disguise my heavy top. 

My word for this year is Purpose and my theme is Amazing 2015. I want to be intentional with everything I'm doing and I want everything to be amazing. My relationships, businesses, my walk with God and my health. My bucket list for 2015 covers all these areas.

Cobalt Maxi For all Seasons

I never thought there would be more than two ways to wear this cobalt maxi dress. I wore it this weekend for my sister in law's baby shower. I got tired of wearing pants and wanted something more comfortable. I mentioned previously that I could wear the dress to bed...it's that comfortable. Cognac Boots and Target Tunic

It's boot season again and I finally brought my boots out of hiding. I think these ones are in their third season and they are beginning to get worn because I wear them so much. I'm beginning to love button down tunics. They are a little dressier and definitely great for my apple shape.   

Today is an exciting day for me. I will share later because I'm writing this post in a hurry. But hint hint, there will be no more Engineer Style posts....Have a great weekend!

Baseball and Denim

Blue Circles

Every weekend in July has been a party weekend. Birthday parties here and there. I wore this to a 60th birthday party on Saturday, a change up from the african attire I wore the week before (posted last week here). The skirt is a New York and Company find. I try to keep myself from that store because they always have something I want. Luckily they don't have their stores everywhere and I don't enjoy shopping their online store, so that saves me.

I need to get back to resting mode because too much going on I tell ya. My brain is on accelerated mode and my body is beginning to be affected. So this week, I'm trying to rest as much as I can when I can.

What I'm learning in the past few days is to be patient and whatever I'm frustrated with and any kind of progress I think I'm not making is just God's way of making me stronger and to prepare me better for what is to come. This is a little contradictory to what I posted earlier this week but the key is balance. Never go to the extremes. Never over do it. You can slow down and wait and listen sometimes so that you clearly know what to do next.

My Red White and Blue

Here's my version of red white and blue. I just had to jump on the band wagon and do a red white and blue outfit. I wore this to church on Sunday; it's also a great summer outfit for work if you work in a corporate setting. We stayed home all day on July 4th because it was raining.  We had a hurricane warning so no plans were made. It was a nice relaxing day and I finally put all my winter clothes away.

P.S excuse the bad picture quality. My camera broke and I'm using a borrowed one and still need to figure the settings out.

Life doesn't give us what we want. We have to GO and get what we want out of life!

Cobalt Bottom and a Lesson on Faith

How was your weekend?. Mine was awesome. Really enjoying this warm weather. There is just something great about the weather. I spent time with family and the highlight of the week was delivering the sermon in church on Sunday (I do that once in a while to fill in), and how great the service was with everything else that went on. Whatever you are believing God for, step out in faith, act on your faith and press through for your miracle. The true measure of faith is in action, speaking, doing and walking.

I was finally happy to wear this cobalt skirt to church. I keep buying all these colored skirts which are not really appropriate for work and they end up sitting in my closet. I wore it the first time to work (here), but I was conscious the whole time. Our choir uniform was cobalt and blue again and I decided to do cobalt on the bottom and add the pop of pink...or is it orchid? Anyway, I like the way it looks with the cobalt blue. When next you wear cobalt, try it with hot pink or orchid.

Navy Lace and Striped Ponte

This is what my face looks like after a long day at work and long drive home. Basically what I look like without makeup. 

Also, this is the time of the month when I gain about five to ten pounds and nothing seems to fit. I realized this a few months ago. I kept saying to myself that I had gained weight then all of a sudden after about a week my clothes fit again. This had gone on for a while before I realized that it had to do with my menstrual cycle. Duh! I also noticed that my cravings increase during this time. Anyone else experience these?

The only way I could wear this skirt was to wear a boxy top over it. I could have done better with the outfit but being comfortable and confident was key. The only thing wrong with the top is that is shows how heavy (heavier at this time of the month) I am on top. I wore it previously here and it looks a little better. Next time, I'm going to plan better and wear my tops that magically conceal my heavy top like this one. Printed tops also do the trick.

Cobalt and Black with a Touch of Floral

Here's a casual look from Sunday afternoon that I quickly put together after church for dinner at a nearby restaurant. I love the look of black with cobalt blue; and the scarf adds the perfect touch. T shirts are essential to any wardrobe for easy dressing and paring or layering with anything. I have several black ones in different fits and with different necklines. Baseball and Pencil

I've always wanted to wear this baseball tee with a pencil skirt and finally got the chance to do so as soon as the we got some warm weather. I'm a big fan of the raglan / baseball tee type t shirts. Window Pane: A must Have for Spring

I picked up the window pane blouse shown at Target when I went in for some paper towels (Don't judge). I figured it would be a nice addition to my closet and great for work and church. The window pane design is different and classy and a great conversation starter. The design is hard to find and they sell out quickly; more so the colored ones.
