Poppy Dots and Mint

This is my second time I'm wearing these mint jeans. Mint is a shade of skinny jeans I'm still sort of shy to wear but this pair has a lot of potential and can be remixed so many different ways. See my remix here and the first time I wore them here. This look was inspired by Sharon in this post.

Engineer Style

This look is probably not blog worthy but this is what I look like one or two times a week when I actually have to dress like the engineer that I am or when I'm just not in fashion mode. The first day at my current position, I wore a skirt and my boss told me that I shouldn't come to work in a skirt from that day forward. That's understandable because it's dirty work sometimes. After I got tired of wearing just pants and wanting to dress better, I went back to wearing skirts and even more daring, dresses and all sorts that are not really fit for an engineering environment but hey, I make it work. So this is what I wore to work....will spice things up again soon.

MIX MATCH

Navy and Red

Happy Monday everyone. I'm sure that you can tell this is a church outfit- it was our choir uniform for Sunday. Navy and red is a lovely and classic color combo.

Orange and Mint and Cardigan Love

It's that time of the year to start layering with a cardigan. Even though the weather report indicated 70 degree warmth, I had on the sweater all day. Summer is over y'all. I mentioned in earlier posts how I'm loving Gap and I wonder why I wasn't buying my staples from there in the past. I thought they were too expensive. But with sales and coupons, I got this for less than $30. I'm beginning to window shop at J Crew Factory for wardrobe staples also. With sales and extra coupons you can get a good deal. This cardigan is on sale plus 30% Off.
Invest in a variety of  colored cardigans for mixing and matching, color blocking and layering to make your wardrobe more versatile and interesting.

Simple with a Pop

These days, it's been hard wearing the killer nice outfits I planned because I just haven't felt like dressing up or they just don't work out. I was going to wear my mint eyelet top and an orange cardigan with this skirt but it just didn't look good. So I wore the black top instead. When all else fails, wear black. I added the statement necklace and bright pumps to make the outfit pop a little.
Since I talk about dressing to flatter my shape and hide flaws on this blog, I must say that I forgot to change my bra in the process of switching my top so the top part of this outfit, to me is not perfect. Lesson not to forget: Different undergarments go with different outfits.

Loving Burgundy

Burgundy is a color that has been catching my eye this fall. The color is back with a bang and it's a really nice fall hue. You all know about my burgundy skinnies which I've worn many times.  I've been swooning over shoes, a pencil skirt and a bag in that color. Here are a few of my favorite and affordable burgundy picks. The color goes well with cobalt, navy, mustard, black, beige and grey. You could also go monochromatic; for example, think of wearing the dress with the wedges, with a grey or mustard clutch. Are you still in love with burgundy?

Vested

I'm not even sure if this vest is out dated or not. The buttons make it feel that way; but it works well for me as a layering piece.

Burgundy Skinnies Five Ways

The first pair of colored skinny jeans I got were these burgundy skinnies. Getting them was my way of easing into the colored skinnies trend. Admit it, you all follow trends too right?  I've worn them many many times and I still love the color and fit. They are from Target and they've held up well. Target pants are sold by fit so you will always find the right pants to fit your shape. I have a big mid section and small hips, so the mid rise, straight thigh (Fit 3) is my fit.

Yellow Apples and Layers

It's beginning to look like fall over here. It's a little chilly and still cloudy.  I really don't want the summer to be over.
Layering this outfit with a cardigan helped to conceal my heavy top, streamline my shape and resulted in a more polished look.

Printed Pants

I was brave enough to finally try printed pants this summer. This is the third time I'm wearing them since I got them and I'm getting comfortable with them...and still loving my baseball tee. (First worn here). It rained all weekend here and we did not see the sun for about four days so it has been really hard taking outfit pictures.
