Late Fall Wish List

I have been out of the shopping loop lately (that's a good thing I suppose) but here are a few items for work, play, and a night out, which have caught my eye for some late fall shopping. The striped blazer is definitely my favorite. Which of the items would you add to your wardrobe?

Burgundy Peplum and Grey

Here is my outfit from Sunday. I like combining unlikely colors so I'm trying burgundy and grey for the first time here. A peplum top is always a win for any body type. I raved about this skirt here and I have remixed it a few times. Well, have a lovely rest of the week. I hope I will be back soon.

Printed Crops and the Growth Studio

I've been reaching out for more crops lately and wearing them over and over thanks to this lovely weather. I really wish summer would be extended this year. It will be August soon and boom it will be September. The bugs are all over though...the only thing I hate about summer. I walk around with my Avon Skin So Soft oil just in case.

Brown Navy and Burgundy and Birthday Fun

This is not a full outfit post. What you're seeing here is the only portion of the picture, and the only picture out of the many pictures I took that turned out nice enough to post. I'm still learning people...as mentioned in my last post. But I do love these three colors together and thought to share the outfit with with you. I also styled the printed pants in a collage here.

My birthday is this week and I wanted to have some fun with you guys. Can you guess how old I'm going to be? Let me know and I shall reveal with a giveaway later on this week....maybe on Thursday or Friday. Happy Guessing!

Burgundy Skirt Remix

This is a dress down version of the burgundy skirt I featured two weeks ago. It was a relatively warm day so I decided to wear a skirt. I added interest to the outfit by wearing colored tights. These ones from Target are not bad at all. They passed the no itch test. I wore them all day with no problems.  To ease into the colored tights trend, wear them with boots to hide most of it. I did go bold with cobalt ones last year.  I'm probably too old to do that again now.

I do not believe January is almost over. I hope all the goals you wrote down are being worked on. I've accomplished quite a few things this month. My new planner came in this week and I will be using it to help me stay on track with everything - my blog, business, spiritual growth, family, meal planning and so on. I hope to share more of how I will be using it. Yes I love paper planning and this year I decided to go pretty by going with the Erin Condren Planner.

Burgundy and Blush

Here's one outfit I would love to try soon and an idea for you if you own any of these pieces. You know me, I buy pieces that don't fit my engineering lifestyle and plan outfits that I can't wear anywhere. I can't even wear this to church yet because the choir has to be in uniform most of the time. I own the top, skirt, pumps and similar accessories. Let's see if an opportunity presents itself soon.

Burgundy and Brown and What I Did on Black Friday

Guess what I got on Black Friday? Nothing! I spent my Friday doing some running around for my Avon business, visited a friend and spent the rest of the day putting braids back in my hair. I'm not even going to tell you how long it took. Let's just say I browsed my Facebook and Twitter timelines till there was nothing else to see, watched two movies, read my bible, responded to a couple of emails, and worked on getting the blog re-designed by Designed Lovely Studio before I was done. Thank God for the iPad. It was a productive day after all.

The color combo for this outfit was inspired by this pin. I love burgundy with brown...well I love burgundy with everything..and it does go with everything.

Burgundy and Dots and Finally Wearing Boots

I finally caved in and wore my boots today and I'm glad I did because it was cold. They made me feel so comfortable and ready to brave the weather. These are the boots I've worn almost everyday for the past two winters. They go with everything. I'm also wearing burgundy again (I've wanted everything burgundy since the fall began). This is the cardigan I showcased here. I bought it in tall so I could wear it as a boyfriend cardi. I've decided to stick with Old Navy and Gap and Target when buying my sweaters and cardigans. I was at JCrew Factory the other day thinking I wanted to be cool and buy expensive better quality clothing but quickly found out that the cut of their clothes do not fit my body type. So I end up going back to the above mentioned stores because the clothes fit better.

Blazer and Jeans

Here's a quick way to dress up your jeans; add a colorful blazer. I love the way burgundy pairs with grey. I had worn my work polo shirt with my jeans and changed into the blazer for a church event on Friday (if you have been following my posts this week, you can tell I'm posting backwards). I always like to match at least two things in my outfits so I opted for these grey pumps.
I rarely wear blazers because they never fit right because of my big chest, so I have very few. The ones cut for my heavy top and big mid section are hard to find. If you have problems wearing blazers like I do, opt for single breasted, single button. For a slimmer look, go for a fitted cut and fold the sleeves, or get the ones with 3/4 sleeves.

Loving Burgundy

Burgundy is a color that has been catching my eye this fall. The color is back with a bang and it's a really nice fall hue. You all know about my burgundy skinnies which I've worn many times.  I've been swooning over shoes, a pencil skirt and a bag in that color. Here are a few of my favorite and affordable burgundy picks. The color goes well with cobalt, navy, mustard, black, beige and grey. You could also go monochromatic; for example, think of wearing the dress with the wedges, with a grey or mustard clutch. Are you still in love with burgundy?
