Cobalt Maxi For all Seasons

I never thought there would be more than two ways to wear this cobalt maxi dress. I wore it this weekend for my sister in law's baby shower. I got tired of wearing pants and wanted something more comfortable. I mentioned previously that I could wear the dress to bed...it's that comfortable. See below for other ways I've worn it over the years. Maybe I'll wear it with a blazer next time. What do you think?

Striped Maxi and Brown Accents: A Remix

I almost didn't wear this dress on Sunday because I had worn it earlier this summer and thought I wouldn't be able to blog about it.  Can't have the same outfit twice, right? Then it occurred to me that I could style it differently. Duh! The benefits of fashion blogging: learn how to style a dress in a different way.
So here it is. I'm remixing the Floor Length Striped Maxi. I do love the dress mainly because it's so comfortable and flares slightly at the bottom to create an a line shape for my inverted triangle body.

I am challenging myself to style it for the colder weather; so stay tuned. (Not looking forward to the cold weather though).

Blue Circles

Every weekend in July has been a party weekend. Birthday parties here and there. I wore this to a 60th birthday party on Saturday, a change up from the african attire I wore the week before (posted last week here). The skirt is a New York and Company find. I try to keep myself from that store because they always have something I want. Luckily they don't have their stores everywhere and I don't enjoy shopping their online store, so that saves me.

I need to get back to resting mode because too much going on I tell ya. My brain is on accelerated mode and my body is beginning to be affected. So this week, I'm trying to rest as much as I can when I can.

What I'm learning in the past few days is to be patient and whatever I'm frustrated with and any kind of progress I think I'm not making is just God's way of making me stronger and to prepare me better for what is to come. This is a little contradictory to what I posted earlier this week but the key is balance. Never go to the extremes. Never over do it. You can slow down and wait and listen sometimes so that you clearly know what to do next.

Have a great rest of the week.

Cobalt Bottom and a Lesson on Faith

P.S. my blog is under construction. Excuse the appearance.

How was your weekend?. Mine was awesome. Really enjoying this warm weather. There is just something great about the weather. I spent time with family and the highlight of the week was delivering the sermon in church on Sunday (I do that once in a while to fill in), and how great the service was with everything else that went on. Whatever you are believing God for, step out in faith, act on your faith and press through for your miracle. The true measure of faith is in action, speaking, doing and walking.

I was finally happy to wear this cobalt skirt to church. I keep buying all these colored skirts which are not really appropriate for work and they end up sitting in my closet. I wore it the first time to work (here), but I was conscious the whole time. Our choir uniform was cobalt and blue again and I decided to do cobalt on the bottom and add the pop of pink...or is it orchid? Anyway, I like the way it looks with the cobalt blue. When next you wear cobalt, try it with hot pink or orchid.
Have a blessed week!

The distance between your miracle and reality is action.

The Browns

I had to think twice before posting this. Because the sun is causing shadows on my face and brown seems to be boring. But here it is. I need to learn how to take pictures when the sun is not working in my favor. I guess I haven't mastered that yet. There is so much to learn when you are a blogger. I'm even reading this book right now to learn more about blogging and be a better blogger

Back to the outfit- I purchased the brown pencil skirt for church because brown is one of our choir uniform staples. It is one of the skirts I can tuck into even though I am round in the middle so it's a definite keeper. I own the same skirt in navy. It does run big so size down if you purchase it and It is remixed below for you incase you own a brown skirt pencil skirt and need ideas. You can also wear with black, mint, pink, burgundy...anything, because it's a neutral.

Have a great week ahead!

Ruffles and Green + Floral Three Ways

I'm doing a two for one today for the Joyful June Style challenge: Tuesday Ruffles + Fields of Green.
I'm finally wearing my floral top with green. I mentioned last year that I would. I've always loved the look of floral with green and realized that the two always look good together; maybe because the two colors together occur naturally in nature. A floral plant usually has green stems and leaves. I would also wear the top with a cobalt blue bottom. Maybe I'll try that next.

Olive and Black - Joyful June Style

I stumbled upon the Joyful June Style Challenge by Curvy Girl on the Run on Instagram and decided to participate and that is why I'm wearing this dress.  The Monday challenge ( I know, I'm behind) is I Love Olive.  I do love olive and I own a few olive colored pieces. Olive works well with leopard, mustard, rust, yellow, gold and black.

I totally forgot about this dress and would not have worn it any time soon. This is why I love participating in challenges like this. They give you great ideas and I love it when someone else can do the thinking for me sometimes. I have a lot on my plate this month and this will help me keep blogging without doing too much work.

So let's talk about the dress. Anyone remember this from about 2 or 3 years ago? It's the olive Target dress owned by many bloggers. I saw it first on Kendi Everyday and went to Target to look for it. My favorite part of the dress is the grecian style neckline.

Hot Pink and White Polka Dots (It's a Remix)

I've always worn red or black with black and white polka dots and wanted to try a new color. I guess any color goes with black and white polka dots. This is a modified version of our choir uniform. I was supposed to wear the hot pink with black but opted for the polka dots because I wasn't going to be on stage. I'm remixing the blouse today, as shown below, and the skirt remix was featured in a previous post as shown here. What's your favorite color to wear with black and white polka dots?

Baseball and Pencil

I've always wanted to wear this baseball tee with a pencil skirt and finally got the chance to do so as soon as the we got some warm weather. I'm a big fan of the raglan / baseball tee type t shirts. I just keep myself from buying more. I like this short sleeve version for the summer. Are you a fan of baseball tees?

Green and Grey Part 2 + a Houndstooth Remix

I'm trying another green and grey combo here and remixing this houndstooth sheath dress. I haven't been able to wear the dress on its own because it doesn't flatter my shape. So I layer it to minimize my heavy top and big mid section. I'm showing two ways to layer it; with a cardigan and with a belted long sleeve tee.  Have a great week

Layered Olive and Mint

Happy Monday everyone. I attended a blogger conference sponsored by Invisalign on Saturday and boy did I learn a lot of new things about blogging. I will probably do a post soon on what I learnt. I also met a few Boston Bloggers that I did not know existed. I was telling Lisa (whom I met and who happens to live the next town over, and has a new link up...check it out) that I thought I was the only one taking pictures of my self in the neighborhood.

This was my outfit from Friday. We finally had springy weather and here's what I put together. I had worn this breezy blouse on its own with black pants previously and decided to try a layered look this time. I've mentioned many times that when all else fails, layer layer layer. Layering adds a little something to any outfit and in my case helps balance out my shape.
