Rust Green Navy + { $50 Giveaway}

This outfit is a recreation of Happy Medleys outfit here. It's also a dressed down version of this outfit  I created a few weeks ago. Think a forest green colored skirt is not versatile? think again. It can also be paired with a yellow, navy blue, red, or burgundy sweater, peplum top or blouse. I'm just realizing everything in the outfit from Target...again, except for the boots.

Happy Sunday and Monday! Make this week a great one and thanks everyone for following and commenting.

Burgundy Skirt Remix

This is a dress down version of the burgundy skirt I featured two weeks ago. It was a relatively warm day so I decided to wear a skirt. I added interest to the outfit by wearing colored tights. These ones from Target are not bad at all. They passed the no itch test. I wore them all day with no problems.  To ease into the colored tights trend, wear them with boots to hide most of it. I did go bold with cobalt ones last year.  I'm probably too old to do that again now.

I do not believe January is almost over. I hope all the goals you wrote down are being worked on. I've accomplished quite a few things this month. My new planner came in this week and I will be using it to help me stay on track with everything - my blog, business, spiritual growth, family, meal planning and so on. I hope to share more of how I will be using it. Yes I love paper planning and this year I decided to go pretty by going with the Erin Condren Planner.

Freezing Weather Chic: Yellow and Brown

We are in a deep freeze again and getting dressed has been challenging. I've been in khaki pants and jeans all week. For one, I do not have enough thick sweaters and surprisingly I haven't gone shopping for more. I'm making do with what I have by layering...and then again I hate layers upon layers because it gets uncomfortable. The cords are my go to for the freezing weather. I've gone from not wearing them at all when I purchased them two years ago to wearing them almost weekly since the winter began. This is the third time I'm wearing them on the blog...time for a 5 ways to wear these Old Navy cords post. As you can see from the second picture, it was freezing (and still freezing as I type) when I was taking these pictures. I'm even ashamed to say how cold it was but I managed a few smiles and quickly did what I had to do. Enduring the cold freezing cold weather for a few minutes is not bad right?

Layered Sweater Dress

I am switching things up from all the browns I've been wearing lately to wearing some more color. I'm trying this layered sweater dress look for the first time.  I don't own too many sweater dresses because I don't think they flatter my body shape. I've gotten rid of a few because they just didn't fit right. Of course I had gotten them because I liked the way they looked on the models. This one is just okay and passes the non clingy, doesn't show all the lumps test. If I had slightly bigger hips in relation to my top area I think it would fit better. But it's okay. Can't be perfect all the time.

What I'm Loving this Week

Happy Friday everyone. Just wanted to share a few things I'm loving, wishing for, or already own and use.

Skinny jeans for big tummy, sparkle bangles, teal scarf

1. Teal Ankle Strap Pumps - These have made their way into my closet and they are really cute and comfortable. They also look better in person.
2. Skinny Jeans - I think I've found another brand of jeans that fit my body type. I'm loving the DKNY Brand. Mid rise, fits everywhere, right amount of stretch...just perfect. My purple skinnies are also DKNY
3.  Long Sleeve Textured Peplum - This is on my wish list but may get sold out soon. Too pricey for me right now. I love the texture and I love anything peplum.
4. mark Powder Buff Foundation - This works as a concealer, foundation and powder. This is what I use when I'm rushing out of the house in the morning. I apply two layers and I'm good to go.
5. Sparkler Bracelet - These bracelets make the perfect gift. I own the one in rose gold. Layer with a boyfriend watch or wear alone.
6. Mark Say Pleats Dress - A burgundy dress is perfect for that holiday party.
7. Scarf Set - You can never own too many scarves. Leopard, Teal and Orange...These are great colors to update any outfit.

What I'm Loving to Stay Warm and Chic

Fall is in full swing with leaves all over and the days getting colder. Even a few sniffles and slight fever has gotten me down a little bit. I was in sweats on Wednesday and I was dressed to do dirty work on Thursday so no more outfit pics this week. But here are a few items I'm loving to keep warm, brighten up, stay moisturized and keep looking chic.

1. Infinity Scarf The infinity scarf takes the guess work out of tying a scarf and the red adds the needed pop of color to any outfit
2. Green Pencil Skirt This shade of green has been catching my eye lately. It's a great shade for the holidays. Wear with a red sweater, gold sparkly top or white button down shirt. I also see myself wearing this with a burgundy peplum top.
3. Over the Knee Boots I've also been interested lately in over the knee boots. I prefer the flat heeled ones though. If you are looking for another pair of tall boots, go over the knees.
4. Puffer Belted Jacket A belted puffer jacket will keep you warm, yet looking stylish. I have this on my wish list because I realize I don't have a warm casual jacket. And that is because puffer anything makes me look even more bulky. The belted option solves that problem.
5. Moisturizing Hand Cream I use this handcream and love it. Keep your hands feeling soft by moisturizing after every hand wash. You're washing your hands more this season right?
6. Tomorrow Perfume I also use and love this. I'm more drawn to perfumes that are oriental. This smells really nice. To know if this is right perfume for you, check the ones you have at home. If the color is the same as this one, then you will like it.

...and I just got two pairs of boots from DSW. This pair and this pair. They are both over the knee and were two for the price of one as far as I am concerned with free shipping and extra discounts. I think a shopping ban should go into effect soon though.

Have a Great Weekend!

Orange and Purple, a Maxi Remix

"The clothes in your closet are the cheapest to wear and fit best". This is what I told myself a few days ago. I've actually been shopping for a few items this fall but I end up returning everything... I have enough clothes. I've been leaning towards remixing rather than adding new items. If you notice from my last few posts, most of the outfits consist of items that have been worn a few times, but in a different way. There are probably up to 1000 remix possibilities with my wardrobe right now. Today, I'm remixing my purple maxi previously worn here in the summer.

The Remix: I prefer the maxi dress with the longer cardigan. The longer cardigan conceals the mid section bulge and makes me look slimmer. What do you think? How do you try to dress slimmer?

Layered with Rust and Blue Dots

Happy Wendnesday. It's another day for layering with a cardigan but not cold enough for a jacket. I'm still loving this versatile cardi from Target. Love the color and style. Cocoon cardigans go a long way to complete any outfit. I also have a similar one in black which has been worn to death. I usually grab the cardigans for the cool weather and more importantly to balance my apple shape. Wearing a cardigan is one of the ways I flatter my apple shape. See how I wore it with olive here  and mustard here.

MIX MATCH

Cobalt Crush

The cobalt blue saga continues. Cobalt and burgundy have become my favorite colors this season. I got this blouse from Target to wear as my choir uniform for Sunday. I saw Sharon wearing it with skinny pants and I wondered how I missed it at Target. Went to my local Target and saw the price was already slashed. Next time, I'll be wearing this with skinny pants.

Blue Lace and Coral Crops

We've had nice weather so far this week, so I decided to wear these crops that have been begging to be worn all summer. I got them just before the summer and I wore them only once and briefly in Hawaii. So here they are, worn with my fitted boxy top. Cropped pants can still be worn well into the fall season when worn with a sweater.

MIX MATCH

Jewel Toned- Cobalt and Mustard

Color blocking is one of my favorite trends and one way I like to make my outfits more interesting. I'm now liking color blocking with jewel tones (rich color tones). The peplum top was previously worn here and the mustard skirt here with some hot pink and here with rust. I embrace peplum tops because they add a little fullness to my hips.
