Found the Perfect "BoyFriend" Jeans

I finally found the perfect "boyfriend jeans", the new Girlfriend jeans from Gap. They fit my apple, inverted triangle shape. I love the stretch and color, and the fact they fit over my belly without the dreaded muffin top. They run big, so size down.

…And no that's not me in the photo. I know I've been away for too long. Still not sure if I can continue blogging regularly about fashion. I've been working so hard on my company, the Growth Studio. But we'll see….

Cobalt Maxi For all Seasons

I never thought there would be more than two ways to wear this cobalt maxi dress. I wore it this weekend for my sister in law's baby shower. I got tired of wearing pants and wanted something more comfortable. I mentioned previously that I could wear the dress to bed...it's that comfortable. See below for other ways I've worn it over the years. Maybe I'll wear it with a blazer next time. What do you think?

Baseball and Denim

Happy Friday! Still loving this versatile baseball tee. I'm not sure if denim skirts are still a thing but this one is oh so comfy and great for casual friday. I wore the top here with a black pencil skirt for a more dressed up look.
Well, this is another blog in a hurry kinda post. Have a great weekend!

Green Gingham and Burgundy

So I turned 40 and this was my birthday outfit. Actually it was work wear for the day I turned 40. I hope you guys will not stop reading my blog because you realize that you've been reading an old lady's blog.

I'm thankful for another year and for God's goodness, mercy and protection and all He's doing in my life. Now I'm determined to do even much more and accomplish all my dreams. I wish I had known everything I learned in the past few years many years ago. It looks like I'm going to be doing more now than I've ever done before. I've actually done that over the years. I remember when I was single and working I did nothing but work, church and rest. Now I'm married, working, I have kids, run a blog, run two businesses and serve in the kingdom. Life is so much fun now and I'm determined to make it more fun and fulfilling.

Now back to the outfit: The shirt has been sitting in my closet for a while because it never looked right every time I wore it but it worked with this skirt. Again, that's because of my body shape. I bought the shirt to fit over my chest and it's too big everywhere else, so tucking it in or layering it under a jacket or cardigan are the best ways for me to wear it.

Layered Olive and Mint

Happy Monday everyone. I attended a blogger conference sponsored by Invisalign on Saturday and boy did I learn a lot of new things about blogging. I will probably do a post soon on what I learnt. I also met a few Boston Bloggers that I did not know existed. I was telling Lisa (whom I met and who happens to live the next town over, and has a new link up...check it out) that I thought I was the only one taking pictures of my self in the neighborhood.

This was my outfit from Friday. We finally had springy weather and here's what I put together. I had worn this breezy blouse on its own with black pants previously and decided to try a layered look this time. I've mentioned many times that when all else fails, layer layer layer. Layering adds a little something to any outfit and in my case helps balance out my shape.

Engineer Style: Simple

We've had sort of yucky weather all week. After all the snow and deep freeze, we've been having rain, fog and some left over ice all over the place. This has hampered picture taking. I was able to take these yesterday and these three turned out okay. This is just a simple style for work. I needed to stay warm and comfortable. A sweater turtle neck is a great alternative to wearing an actual sweater. No scarf needed, although I forgot to wear a necklace. A necklace is my least favorite accessory to wear.

Christmas Outfit + Target and Avon Giveaway

If I were invited to a Christmas party, this is what I would wear. The skirt is in my closet and I own a similar top and similar pair of shoes (peep toe style).  Gold, green and leopard go great together. Now if only I had somewhere to where this to..hint hint dear hubby let's go somewhere.  Do you ever go out somewhere just because you want to wear a special outfit?
The skirt is from Target and I bought it just in case I needed to wear it someday. I also got it in red because red pencil skirts are hard to find.
Merry Christmas! The count down begins...

Engineer Style: Grey, Navy, Reds....and Snow

We finally got our first major snow fall. Unlike other bloggers, I waited till a day after the snow fall to take pictures. No skirts or fancy wear this week because I'm working with the guys all week at work and doing a lot of walking around. This is the thickest sweater I own and I wear it on the coldest days. Wearing it layered provides extra protection. I got the tote this past weekend during a trip to Macy's to do a return. I found the bag hanging on a rack in the children's section and asked for the price. I ended up buying it...It was such a good deal. My daughter asked me why I was getting another bag. My response: "I don't own a red bag".

Black Dots Shirt Dress

I bought this dress from Gap a few months ago after seeing it on Shelby. I loved the way it looked on her so I thought to give it a try. It's amazing to see how the same dress looks differently on different people. I love that I can button it up with no problems. Any dress that fits over my chest is a keeper. A lot of reviewers complained about the dress being shapeless and too big. Gap sizes run big, so always size down. The slight flare on the bottom part is also perfect for my shape. If it was straight up and down, it would not be flattering. I also ordered it in tall for more length.

Pinterest Inspired - Black and Brown

This outfit came about by looking at my Pinterest Fall style board for inspiration. I chose this look because it's simple enough for work.  All I added was the infinity scarf to keep me warm.
I got the scarf during a recent TJ Maxx haul. TJ Maxx can be dangerous and I try to stay away as much as possible because even when I don't find clothes I like, I always find shoes or accessories that I like. I've even gotten stuff online...God help me.
Happy Wednesday Thursday! (the weekend is closer than I thought)

Engineer Style: Yellow with Navy Khakis

Some of you have asked to see more of my more casual work outfits, particularly ones to wear in the engineering or dirty work environment. Here's another way I'm wearing khakis for work. Instead of wearing regular brown khaki pants, I opted for these navy blue ones and wore them with a yellow sweater for a color blocking effect. I added the grey scarf to complete the outfit. This is a color combo I love and would do again.  A grey sweater or polo will also look nice with the navy pants. I also own the pants in brown and blush. They are great for days I have to walk around the lab and shop floor at work.

Mint and Brown

Isn't it nice when you have two different items purchased at different times matching like my top and sandals? I had worn the top and realized I had shoes that matched exactly.
I attended a church conference this weekend and this is what I wore (without the shoes..I wore my navy blue flats) and changed into the sandals, because we had a birthday party to attend afterwards.

One of the things learnt from the conference is that we need to speak what we want. We always end up speaking and calling the obvious and the problems and issues. Speak your blessings and breakthroughs into existence. Never wake up in neutral mode hoping the day will go well or taking whatever comes your way. As you wake up in the morning, decide what your day is going to be like and stop declaring the obvious or complain like I always do. I'm going to change things up this week as far as my words go. Have a great week and expect great things!
