The Truth about Invisalign

I'm not sure if you ever noticed that I don't smile with my whole teeth showing in my outfit posts. I have spaces in between some of my teeth that I do not like. I haven't done anything about it because I know I don't want braces. I got an invitation to a talk by Invisalign and decided to attend and find out if Invisalign was an option. Yes it is! Invisalign is a great alternative to getting braces, especially for tweens, teens and adults like myself.

My daughter actually has braces right now to open up some space for her adult tooth to come in. One of the challenges with the braces is wire breakage and her not been able to eat different foods. With Invisalign, this is not a problem.

Invisalign Teen is especially geared towards tweens and teens. One of the benefits of Invisalign Teen are clear aligners which are removable and can straighten without a mouth full of metal and all the disruption and sacrifice. I love that Invisalign Teen includes up to six free replacement aligners and eliminates emergency ortho visits for broken wires and brackets (just as in my daughter's case).
I had always wondered about the effectiveness of Invisalign. Here are some facts about some of the different concerns:

  • Myth:Invisalign can only treat minor or cosmetic issues
  • Fact: Invisalign effectively treats a wide variety of orthodontic issues from severe bite issues to overly crowded to widely spaced (that's me). Advancements to Invisalign's patented technology continues to increase the complexity of issues that can be treated
  • Myth: Invisalign takes longer to complete than braces
  • Fact: The length of Invisalign treatments is comparable to braces.

  1. While searching for an Invisalign provider in Arizona I've read many negative reviews about it, but most of what they are ranting about is how high maintenance it is. I don't really get it because traditional braces also require detailed care, for example flossing and brushing after each meal. The fact is Invisalign is also sort of like traditional braces minus all the hassles.
