Black and Random

Wearing all black and trying to stay warm; turtle neck, hat and all....okay, I took the hat off because it was giving me a head ache. I'm doing a Random Wednesday Post today.

1. I am still working hard to build The Growth Studio. That's why I'm not posting much.

2. I've been networking quite a bit and meeting so many lovely people, getting more ideas and learning so many new things. I wish I had done this while I had my full time job. Whether you are in a job or own a business, I encourage you to join one or two networking groups. It will grow you beyond where you are.

3. I've been thinking about my 2014 Bucket List, crossing things off and I'm getting ready to work on my 2015 bucket list. I'm also waiting for my new planner. I went with Erin Condren last year but unfortunately or fortunately, I'm doing the Passion Planner this year because my schedule and work is so different now. I thought I was going to stay with Erin Condren forever. I'm still going to use their notebooks though and I love their stickers.

4. At a networking meeting yesterday, we were asked to describe what kind of Christmas ornament we would be and why. It was amazing what all the other ladies shared. I picked Christmas lights. I want to be an example, an inspiration, a testimony of God's goodness and be able to let people know that they can be the best they can be and achieve their greatest potential. I actually wrote it down because I never really thought about that.

Late Fall Wish List

Hybrid Outfit: Black Sweater and African Print Skirt

It's been two weeks since I started working on the Growth Studio full time and I tell you, it's been busy. My house is still a mess and I still haven't gotten my nails done. These are a few of the things I wanted to do since I now have time but no, I still have so much to do to build the business. I think I finally have some time to squeeze in blogging. We'll see.

This is what I wore to church on Sunday. It's an American and African Hybrid. There's a lot of creativity around styling the African print these days. The skirts are sometimes shorter in length and can be worn with a button down shirt, chambray, a tee or sweater, as in this case. And I'm loving my lipstick from Avon. I'm wearing the Cherry Jubilee Ultra Color Rich Lipstick. It's great for dark skin tones and lasts all day.

Green and Beige

Hello There! I've been very busy working myself out of my full time job into my full time business. Yes that's the "hint hint" I talked about in my last post. I finally quit my job to focus on the Growth Studio. So probably no more Engineer style posts. But I will still be wearing my khakis. More on that later.

This is my second Ashton Blouse from The Limited. I also own it in red as seen here. I love the way green goes with beige. We wore this as our choir uniform a few weeks ago.

It's a one picture kinda post today. This is my during the week hot pink skirt. A neon skirt goes a long way to brighten up one's day and probably grab everyone's attention. Since I work with mostly men, I usually shy away from wearing it to work. I was bold enough to wear it the first time here and remixing it today with a striped tee. The pockets, as always are a plus.

Salt and Pepper

...and some red lips I might add. White skirts are hard to find, at least for me, so I've held on to this one for many many years. I almost always wear it with a black top. This was church wear for Sunday. Our uniform was..you guessed it, black and white. We all looked like salt and pepper shakers on stage.

Burgundy Peplum and Grey

Here is my outfit from Sunday. I like combining unlikely colors so I'm trying burgundy and grey for the first time here. A peplum top is always a win for any body type. I raved about this skirt here and I have remixed it a few times. Well, have a lovely rest of the week. I hope I will be back soon.

Blue Circles

Every weekend in July has been a party weekend. Birthday parties here and there. I wore this to a 60th birthday party on Saturday, a change up from the african attire I wore the week before (posted last week here). The skirt is a New York and Company find. I try to keep myself from that store because they always have something I want. Luckily they don't have their stores everywhere and I don't enjoy shopping their online store, so that saves me.

I need to get back to resting mode because too much going on I tell ya. My brain is on accelerated mode and my body is beginning to be affected. So this week, I'm trying to rest as much as I can when I can.

What I'm learning in the past few days is to be patient and whatever I'm frustrated with and any kind of progress I think I'm not making is just God's way of making me stronger and to prepare me better for what is to come. This is a little contradictory to what I posted earlier this week but the key is balance. Never go to the extremes. Never over do it. You can slow down and wait and listen sometimes so that you clearly know what to do next.

My Red White and Blue

Here's my version of red white and blue. I just had to jump on the band wagon and do a red white and blue outfit. I wore this to church on Sunday; it's also a great summer outfit for work if you work in a corporate setting. We stayed home all day on July 4th because it was raining. We had a hurricane warning so no plans were made. It was a nice relaxing day and I finally put all my winter clothes away.

P.S excuse the bad picture quality. My camera broke and I'm using a borrowed one and still need to figure the settings out.

Life doesn't give us what we want. We have to GO and get what we want out of life!

Green Gingham and Burgundy

So I turned 40 and this was my birthday outfit. Actually it was work wear for the day I turned 40. I hope you guys will not stop reading my blog because you realize that you've been reading an old lady's blog. I'm thankful for another year and for God's goodness, mercy and protection and all He's doing in my life. Now I'm determined to do even much more and accomplish all my dreams. I wish I had known everything I learned in the past few years many years ago. It looks like I'm going to be doing more now than I've ever done before. I've actually done that over the years. I remember when I was single and working I did nothing but work, church and rest. Now I'm married, working, I have kids, run a blog, run two businesses and serve in the kingdom. Life is so much fun now and I'm determined to make it more fun and fulfilling. Now back to the outfit: The shirt has been sitting in my closet for a while because it never looked right every time I wore it but it worked with this skirt. Again, that's because of my body shape. I bought the shirt to fit over my chest and it's too big everywhere else, so tucking it in or layering it under a jacket or cardigan are the best ways for me to wear it.
