Happy Monday everyone. I hope you had a lovely weekend. Mine was busy as usual. I spent 3 hours taking out my braids on Friday night (post with new hair coming soon) and on Saturday ran some quick errands, made some Avon deliveries, took the kids to the doctor's, missed choir rehearsal, got my hair done, went for a birthday party and ran into Target to get some things for my daughter's birthday which happened on Sunday. Yes, Sunday was busy too.

Here's an outfit from last week. I got the top from Target on clearance a few months ago and I've raved about these jeans before, here. They just fit. I added some red to make the outfit pop.

I've always wanted to wear this baseball tee with a pencil skirt and finally got the chance to do so as soon as the we got some warm weather. I'm a big fan of the raglan / baseball tee type t shirts. Green and Grey Part 2 + a Houndstooth Remix

I'm trying another green and grey combo here and remixing this houndstooth sheath dress. I haven't been able to wear the dress on its own because it doesn't flatter my shape. So I layer it to minimize my heavy top and big mid section. I'm showing two ways to layer it; with a cardigan and with a belted long sleeve tee. Have a great week

Layered Olive and Mint

Happy Monday everyone. I attended a blogger conference sponsored by Invisalign on Saturday and boy did I learn a lot of new things about blogging. I will probably do a post soon on what I learnt. I also met a few Boston Bloggers that I did not know existed. I was telling Lisa (whom I met and who happens to live the next town over, and has a new link up...check it out) that I thought I was the only one taking pictures of my self in the neighborhood.

This was my outfit from Friday. We finally had springy weather and here's what I put together. I had worn this breezy blouse on its own with black pants previously and decided to try a layered look this time. I've mentioned many times that when all else fails, layer layer layer. Layering adds a little something to any outfit and in my case helps balance out my shape.

Greens and Greys

Green with grey is a color combination that I'm loving lately. I was sent this mint infinity color block scarf by 9th & Elm and I decided to wear it with this grey dress, an Avon favorite of mine. The green trench is making it's debut on the blog. I think I got it two years from Old Navy and never wore it much because, let's face it, it's a spring jacket and we don't get much of a spring around here. It's still sort of cold as we speak and next thing you know, it will be summer and there will be no need for jackets. Anyway, if you're looking for a way to wear your grey piece next time, try pairing it with something green.

Gray Tunic Sweater

Hello there! I took an intentional break from blogging...okay it's just been a week... because I just couldn't get everything done. Didn't feel like taking pictures either even though we had two warm days which presented an opportunity to dress nice and take pictures but no, I did not feel like it it.

We're back in the cold snap and my no 1. priority is keeping warm and staying comfortable. So another sweater tunic, thick scarf and beanie look for you.

If you love tunics and you have a big mid section, big hips or big behind, opt for a loose fitting one (not too loose) for a more flattering fit. I mentioned in a previous post that I ditched all my fitted sweater tunics and dresses because they hug in all the wrong places.

Black and Grey + A Perfect Pencil Skirt

Although this was my Sunday uniform, it does look more like a work attire. Well, going to church is work for me. Between singing, teaching sometimes and working as one of the church clerks, I have my work cut out for me.

This is absolutely one of my favorite pencil skirts. It's wool, the perfect length and it has a slight A-line shape which helps balance my inverted triangle shape. It also somehow magically flattens my belly a little bit. When I bought the skirt I wasn't even at the point where I was paying attention to what fit my body shape. I just needed a grey skirt for church. I can't even remember when I bought it but all I know is that it's from Kohls.
