Black Grey and White

I just noticed that I've been wearing a lot of greys lately. Here's a work outfit from last week. I don't see many bloggers wearing slacks and I mentioned before how I do not really post the pictures in which I wear pants and trousers for work. But some of you said you didn't mind. The nature of my job requires that I'm in pants for the most part so I own quite a few slacks (trousers), in addition to khaki's for those days where I don't want to look all fancy in the midst of all the guys I work with. Do you still wear slacks (trousers)?

Engineer Style: Simple

We've had sort of yucky weather all week. After all the snow and deep freeze, we've been having rain, fog and some left over ice all over the place. This has hampered picture taking. I was able to take these yesterday and these three turned out okay. This is just a simple style for work. I needed to stay warm and comfortable. A sweater turtle neck is a great alternative to wearing an actual sweater. No scarf needed, although I forgot to wear a necklace. A necklace is my least favorite accessory to wear.

Engineer Style: Grey, Navy, Reds....and Snow

We finally got our first major snow fall. Unlike other bloggers, I waited till a day after the snow fall to take pictures. No skirts or fancy wear this week because I'm working with the guys all week at work and doing a lot of walking around. This is the thickest sweater I own and I wear it on the coldest days. Wearing it layered provides extra protection. I got the tote this past weekend during a trip to Macy's to do a return. I found the bag hanging on a rack in the children's section and asked for the price. I ended up buying it...It was such a good deal. My daughter asked me why I was getting another bag. My response: "I don't own a red bag".

Engineer Style: Yellow with Navy Khakis

Some of you have asked to see more of my more casual work outfits, particularly ones to wear in the engineering or dirty work environment. Here's another way I'm wearing khakis for work. Instead of wearing regular brown khaki pants, I opted for these navy blue ones and wore them with a yellow sweater for a color blocking effect. I added the grey scarf to complete the outfit. This is a color combo I love and would do again.  A grey sweater or polo will also look nice with the navy pants. I also own the pants in brown and blush. They are great for days I have to walk around the lab and shop floor at work.

Engineer Style

This look is probably not blog worthy but this is what I look like one or two times a week when I actually have to dress like the engineer that I am or when I'm just not in fashion mode. The first day at my current position, I wore a skirt and my boss told me that I shouldn't come to work in a skirt from that day forward. That's understandable because it's dirty work sometimes. After I got tired of wearing just pants and wanting to dress better, I went back to wearing skirts and even more daring, dresses and all sorts that are not really fit for an engineering environment but hey, I make it work. So this is what I wore to work....will spice things up again soon.

Dressed up Khakis

I was freezing for two days earlier this week so I decided I needed to go back to wearing my pants and a sweater. I was about to put my sweaters away but this weather has been unpredictable.
Khakis are the the engineer's uniform...worn with a polo. That is how I styled my Khakis back in the day but today, I'm dressing them up a little with leopard heels and pearls, and layered. I also like the way blue looks with the khaki color.
I've worn this sweater three times already in the past few weeks. I just love pairing navy with everything.

School Boy Blazer and Slacks

This week's Style me Friday Link up theme over at Fashionista Next Door is slacks. This is what I'm actually supposed to wear to work everyday but I end up wearing my skirts, dresses and crops sometimes because I do like to dress up. A lot of things are still begging to be worn in my closet but they are not appropriate for my life style. I even have to wear a uniform on Sundays for church because I sing in the choir. Many of my outfits that I do not post are basically those days I wear my slacks. So here's one of the ways I wear my slacks.

Work Attire - Striped Sweater

This is basically what I wear to work almost everyday in the winter and spring (spring is still kinda cold for me and my office is always cold). A sweater and pants. I work as an engineer and wearing jeans everyday would be okay but I rebel and take it up a notch and even wear skirts and dresses sometimes. If I feel I'm going to get dirty I put on my lab coat.

The heels are exchanged for safety shoes or my Mary Jane type sneakers once I get to work.

I'm always drawn to horizontal stripes which as a rule makes one look wider and bigger but I try to balance it out with wearing the right pants. With my shape, I may not be able to pull off the stripes with skinny pants. But we'll see.
