Green and Beige

Hello There! I've been very busy working myself out of my full time job into my full time business. Yes that's the "hint hint" I talked about in my last post. I finally quit my job to focus on the Growth Studio. So probably no more Engineer style posts. But I will still be wearing my khakis. More on that later. 

This is my second Ashton Blouse from The Limited. I also own it in red as seen here. I love the way green goes with beige. We wore this as our choir uniform a few weeks ago.

Yellow Dress Remix

This was church wear for Sunday. I didn't take any outfit pictures this past week because I was down with Strep throat. This is definitely not what I looked like during the week; my face that is. I'm here thanking God that is was just that and for healing. It's not fun to be sick. But I think it's a blessing in disguise sometimes. My body needed to rest. I was in bed for two days and I'm kinda happy I did that. Doing nothing but sleeping. Yes please!

I wore this yellow dress on its own here when the weather was warmer. I'm remixing it today by layering with a cardigan. Layering is my number one trick for dressing slimmer. It also adds interest and dimension to any outfit (See last picture for a side by side comparison).

Blue and Black

Hope you all had a good Christmas. I got an iPhone from dear hubby and now I can Instagram and do other things. I've been a long time Blackberry user (..i know right). I'm always the last one to get on the latest gadget band wagon. It's been pretty busy around here for me. Worked everyday except for Christmas day because I used up all my vacation already. Another reason why I need to make a change; so I've also been working on launching my full time business. I'm skipping choir practice today so I can catch my breath and do some cleaning. 

I've been keeping things real casual and comfortable all week with my outfits. This is one of my outfits from the past week. It doesn't get more comfortable than this: Tunic, leggings and boots. 

Have a great rest of the weekend and don't forget to start writing down your plans for 2014. I believe 2014 is going to be a great year if you make it that by planning right.

Quilted Vest and Teal Skinnies

Behold my first ever quilted vest. I've never really seen the need for them so I've never owned one till now. I've owned this striped top for a while but never wore it because it shows all my lumps and how heavy I am on top, so I figured getting a vest to cover most of the top would make it useful.  So a quilted vest serves as a cover up, provides warmth (This one kept me really warm), and adds a special something to any outfit. I may need to get another one. I opted for a less puffy vest so it wouldn't add any extra bulk to my already heavy top.

Jewel Toned Color Blocking: Green and Cobalt

I'm participating in the Jewel Tones Trend Spin Link Up by wearing this outfit. With jewel tones, it's almost always a color blocking affair. It wasn't until later in the day that I wished I wore boots instead of baring my legs. No more bare legs during the week for me. On Sunday, I can handle it because it's warm enough in church but at work, it's a different story. So no more....

Pastel and Neutral (Purple and Nude)

This outfit came together after trying different versions of purple and beige that I had to wear on Sunday. I'm wearing my $10 Forever 21 sweater which is still holding up well. I buy items based on what fits me for the most part. Crew neck sweaters don't work for my heavy top but when I find a brand that fits, if it is Forever 21 cheap, I go for it. I have the sweater in navy too. Worn here and here. 

And I leave you with this for the week: Hold on to your dreams, goals and whatever you are hoping for. Even though you feel like slipping and letting go because you are tired, or things don't seem to be working out. Just hold on. In due time, it will come to pass. And even if it doesn't, you will know that you tried and you were definitely strengthened and gotten better through the process. The process of waiting and hoping and experiencing the pain makes you stronger.

Blazer and Jeans

Here's a quick way to dress up your jeans; add a colorful blazer. I love the way burgundy pairs with grey. I had worn my work polo shirt with my jeans and changed into the blazer for a church event on Friday (if you have been following my posts this week, you can tell I'm posting backwards). I always like to match at least two things in my outfits so I opted for these grey pumps. 

I rarely wear blazers because they never fit right because of my big chest, so I have very few. The ones cut for my heavy top and big mid section are hard to find. If you have problems wearing blazers like I do, opt for single breasted, single button. For a slimmer look, go for a fitted cut and fold the sleeves, or get the ones with 3/4 sleeves.

Mint and Brown

Isn't it nice when you have two different items purchased at different times matching like my top and sandals? I had worn the top and realized I had shoes that matched exactly.
I attended a church conference this weekend and this is what I wore (without the shoes..I wore my navy blue flats) and changed into the sandals, because we had a birthday party to attend afterwards.

One of the things learnt from the conference is that we need to speak what we want. We always end up speaking and calling the obvious and the problems and issues. Speak your blessings and breakthroughs into existence. Never wake up in neutral mode hoping the day will go well or taking whatever comes your way. As you wake up in the morning, decide what your day is going to be like and stop declaring the obvious or complain like I always do. I'm going to change things up this week as far as my words go. Have a great week and expect great things!

Purple Bow and Edgy Sandals + a $200 Giveaway

I'm a big fan of bow blouses, although they are hard to find. I own three and they are all from The Limited. I started adding bow blouses to my blouse collection in order to change things up and keep from wearing a plain shirt as my choir uniform (you guessed it, this was choir uniform for Sunday). Bow blouses also look great layered with a sweater (as seen here) and with a jacket. 

This pencil skirt is the one I wear when I want to tuck in and when I don't want to wear any sort of body shaper. The fabric is the same as The Limited's exact stretch fabric. It stretches with your body and doesn't lose its shape. If you have a big midsection, or big hips, and you've stayed away from pencil skirts for those reasons, try the exact stretch....And these sandals..or sandal booties, I wore to add a little edge to the outfit.

Blue Lace and Coral Crops

We've had nice weather so far this week, so I decided to wear these crops that have been begging to be worn all summer. I got them just before the summer and I wore them only once and briefly in Hawaii. So here they are, worn with my fitted boxy top. Cropped pants can still be worn well into the fall season when worn with a sweater.
